He believes me to be the bravest, yes, braver than them all But, I am yet a child, still wet behind the ears He sees someone so different, wiser than my years Someone to look up to, as if I was his guiding light Not just another frightened child, also afraid of the night Is it when he is full of doubt, he searches out my hand? Together, we can become stronger, together we make a stand He is the little one, and I, myself, oh so small Together we become stronger, bigger than them all We fight the world's worst battles, those thoughts of the mind Together we have more courage, we need not hide behind Those pillows and blankets, for the night air will be still Where dreams are not so frightful, but pleasant and tranquil It is amazing to see the transformation that does take place When one small hand finds another, where love will replace Those doubts of a child, the little ones, oh so small Together can become as one, standing strong, standing tall He is the little one, and I, a little older than he Somehow we find the courage..Oh, how can it be? Is it the love that we share between us, within the heart it's free? A special bond, for him to be him, and me to be me Hand in hand, together, through different eyes we shall see The path is not so tangled, the child is now carefree He is the little one, I am older, this is true Together hand in hand, no more dark and glumy clouds, For our tomorrows?...Only have skies of blue Barbara Jeffires-Taylor © May,2001 |
